Exposed

To be vulnerable is to feel as if your body is washing away into million pieces, so fast that even if you tried you couldn’t pick them all up again. To be vulnerable means to let all your guards down and let everyone see who YOU are. Is the real you so bad or so broken that your not willing to show people all of YOU because you’re scared they will look at you differently and all you want is for them to see you in perfect form? Letting your walls be removed regardless of your situation is a sign of maturity. Why is vulnerability portrayed as a sign of weakness? Is it because people take advantage of it so we learn to never do it or do it again? Or is it a sign of weakness because others can’t deal with the reality of how hurt, angry or just disappointed they made you feel? Could it be that taking that deep breath and saying “This is me! Accept me for what I am!” Might just seem like too long of an explanation?

I know I accept me for what I am. I accept the failures in my life, the paths I walked down that weren’t the right ones, my choices because only then through suffering, I got to know what it truly felt like to be ME. I wasn’t always like that but I am glad to be there now. To truly know what it feels to be pulled apart just so you can put yourself back together, BUT this time the right way. This time I get to walk the right path, learn the lessons taught and appreciate the bad because only good comes from it. If you want it.

We try so hard to live a lavish, social media worthy, all filters, and unreal life, that we lose who we are. We try to say “I have to put my head up high so I can see where I am going, so I can seem strong and I can take care of everyone”. But, in reality even if you have to put your head down, even if you have to lean on someone and even if all you can do is barely take care of yourself, YOU can still walk with confidence knowing that you will get to where you need to be. You will get there because YOU are stronger than you think.

As you release that deep breath you have been wanting to let go for so long, as you shed the last tear in defeat, I want you to know it doesn’t end there. Be vulnerable, be open, because only this way you can show the world that through pain there is so much BEAUTY. That nothing happens in vain.

Mistakes are made on the daily basis, not one of us is perfect, and sometimes some people WILL take advantage of your vulnerability. But that’s ok. People like that need people like us to build up their self esteem and their ego. But, as quickly and as fake as that is built, it will be torn down. Life has a way of making you feel like the world doesn’t stop spinning, like one thing after another thing keeps happening. “Life isn’t fair”, right? Isn’t that a popular quote? Life owes you nothing! So, if YOU keep that mindset that life or the world owes you, YOU will always suffer and say “Life isn’t fair.” Life is what it is! We live life the way we make it, want it and work hard for it. Nothing you feel inside is easy to get rid of, nor will go away overnight. Work hard to be a better version of yourself, to be vulnerable, to laugh at all the craziness around you and so now you can begin to live. The sad truth is we aren’t promised tomorrow or forever right? So, be an open book and no matter the torn pages, you can always add more. It’s your life, no one else’s. Don’t dwell on the bad, learn from it and know you are IMPORTANT, VALUABLE, APPRECIATED, LOVED and YOU ARE ENOUGH. YOU MATTER!
